Last Cannon Shot
The last roar of the Alpha Tau Omega cannon was heard after the first touchdown in the [1960] Penn State game. Sparks from the blast fell into a suitcase with extra powder and an explosion occurred in the northwest corner of Archbold Stadium. Five persons were injured by the blast. The University ordered a suspension and the Alumni of ATO followed that with a directive that the use of the cannon be dropped for the rest of the season.
